A Detective’s Take: Signs Your Significant Other is Cheating

By Jack Meyers

It’s never a fun topic but unfortunately, cheating in relationships is more common than one wants to believe. There isn’t really a rhyme or reason to it other than your significant other finds an attraction and comfort with someone else. Here are some possible signs that your special someone may be cheating on you:

The phone lock. Of course putting your phone on a protective password or pin is smart for many reasons, but this is also a great way to keep the suspecting person out of a phone. If your significant other tends to tilt or hide the phone as they are typing in their pin, this should give you a slight warning flag. If you notice that your significant other keeps their phone with them at all times, this could be a sign that they are making sure that they have an eye on their phone at all times.

Late night calls and texts.  Unfamiliar numbers and names should tip you off. Listen to how they talk on the phone with this person; if their voice changes and seems a tad off, it could be because they are trying to hide something.

Working late. Staying late at work is the oldest excuse in the book, losing track of time and falling asleep etc. follow second. These are typically the times that your significant other goes and gets dinner and drinks with the other person.

Urging you to stay home or go out. If your significant becomes very adamant and supportive of you staying home for the evening or to go out, this could be your sign that they are anxious to get to someone else. Keeping you distracted and happy with something makes them think that you will not suspect anything.

Change in appearance. If you notice that your significant other has starting dressing nicer and differently, they could be doing this to impress someone else. Suddenly, hitting the gym and watching what they eat is an indicator that they want to look good for someone else.

Drastic mood changes toward you. This could go either way, your significant other may be overly sweet and kind to your or constantly fighting with you. Extreme mood changes are a sign that there is a guilty conscious looming.

Keep in mind that just because your significant other does all these things, doesn’t mean they are cheating. You have a perfectly innocent and loyal special someone. These are just signs something may going on. Hopefully you will not have to look for these signs, good luck and guard your heart.
